The main purpose is to provide students with an interdisciplinary education and training curriculum that can meet the needs of the increasingly globalized business world. The Department of International Trade and Finance aims to train prospective entrepreneurs and managers who;
- know the principles and rules of international trade and finance as well as export and import legislation
- have national and international business knowledge,
- can monitor international economic relations, and can use information technologies by implementing contemporary management techniques with innovations offered by the information world in an intense competitive environment.

Education is provided through formal and distance education. Internships and workplace practice activities are carried out in the field.

• Comprehend advanced level of theoretical and factual knowledge of basic functions of trade and finance, export and import managemet, international logistics and tranportation, international economy, finacial management, international trade law, international trade and investment, foreign trade regulations, production, finance, foreign trade accounting, and marketing.
• Explain the relations and interactions between the basic functions of Trade and Finance transactions.
• Use advanced level knowledge in the field of international trade and finance in order to provide that the functions of the trade and finance are carried out in unity.
• Analyze unforeseen complex problems faced within the trade and finance activities and develops proposals for solutions based on research and current evidence.
• Hold the necassary knowledge and skills in order to manage the operation of national and international companies regarding the provision of goods and capital.
• Understand the nature of international capital movements and analyze the role of national macroeconomic policies.
• Anticipate potential problems in new practices in the field of international trade and finace, and develops preventive strategies.
• Transfer acquired knowledge and skills on team mates under her/his responsibility within the scope of a project.
• Take risks and undertake innovative developments in order to solve unseen problems for his/her field.
• Take responsibility both as a team member and individually in order to provide that unforeseen complex activities faced in the practices in his/her field are carried out.
• Conduct advanced studies in his/her field independently.
• Manage activities for the development of his/her subordinates within the framework of a project.
• Take risk and responsibility for the actualization of knowledge, ideas, practices or technologies that bring innovation to his/her field.

Assessment methods together with teaching and training methods most frequently used at the educational programmes of the University are given below. Programmes utilize most of these methods as appropriate in order to intended learning outcomes in accordance with their educational aims and objectives to be achieved.
The assessment methods applied for assessment of the achievement of the expected programme learning outcomes for the entire programme of Department of Computer Engineering , in particular, are ticked in the list below and those for each individual course unit are given in the relevant section of the course descriptions with their contribution to the final grades.

Examination
Students are subject to a final exam, other than the exams they have taken and the studies they have been involved in. Each semester, students are given at least one mid-term examination. Apart from mid-term examinations, quizzes can be given without announcing a specific date. The criteria (quiz, mid-term, assignment, final exam, etc.) and the ratio taken into consideration for success assessment in the courses are stated in the syllabi distributed to the students at the beginning of each semester and/or published on the web site. Final examinations are made in dates, places and times determined and announced by the University. The students’ final semester grade is given by their instructors based on mid-term and final examination results, semester studies, and compliance with attendance regulations.
Courses, which do not require mid-term and/or final examinations, are determined by the related Heads of Departments/ School Directors, and the Registrar’s Office is informed accordingly. Final grades for such courses are given based on their coursework throughout the term. The end of semester course grade is submitted to the Registrar’s Office by the lecturer with success evaluation criteria. The semester grades become final after being announced by the Registrar’s Office.
Grades
For each course that the students take, the raw grade appreciated by the instructor at the end of the term is transformed into the following equivalent letter grade by being based on one of the relative evaluation, instructor appreciation and directly grade transformation evaluation system.

Success Grades
The students whose success grade is AA, BA, BB, CB and CC from a course pass that course directly. Students who get DC or DD grades in a course are deemed to have conditionally passed that course.
Succesful Students
Students who obtain a GPA of 3.00-3.49, at the end of the semester with at least a normal semester course load, are considered "Honor Students" and those who obtain a GPA of 3.50-4.00 are considered "High Honor Students".
Also, from the letter grades;
I Grade incomplete (Incomplete); is given to the students who have not completed the required conditions excluding the attendance for the course in which they are successful in the semester. In case the student takes the grade of I from any course, s/he is obliged to get a grade by completing his/her deficiencies within two weeks as of the announcement date of the grades. This duration can be extended with the decision of the management board. Otherwise, the grade of I is transformed into the grade of FF.
E Grade of exemption (Exempted); is given to the ones being successful in the exemption examination and the ones coming with the lateral and vertical transfer and the courses which have been taken and have been successfully completed while getting education in another higher education institution previously. The grades of E are not included to the average calculations.
NA
Grade of absenteeism (Not Attended); is given to the students who cannot realize the attendance conditions. In the evaluations, it is processed as the grade of FF.
S Grade of being successful (Successful); is given to the students who are successful in the thesis studies. Also the grade of S is used in the situation of being successful for the courses taken without credit such as the term project, field, clinic and laboratory studies and seminars. The grade of S is not included to the general grade average.
U Grade of being unsuccessful (Unsuccessful); is given to the students who are unsuccessful in the thesis studies. Also the grade of U is used in the situation of being unsuccessful for the courses taken without credit such as the term project, field, clinic and laboratory studies and seminars. The grade of U is not included to the general grade average.
Objection To The Exam Results
In İstanbul Arel University, students can raise their objection to any exam results with a petition to be filled and submitted to the relevant Dean's office and directorate in three working days following announcement date of the exam results at the latest. The objection shall be evaluated by the relevant lecturer in five working days following the announcement of objection to him/her. Result of the re-evaluation shall be reported to the relevant dean’s office or directorate with a justified and written report. Dean's office and directorate shall transfer the result of objection to the Registrar's Office in written.

In order to monitor the quality of higher education programs,

The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is responsible for the planning, organization, management, and supervision of education, training, and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.

"University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" of higher education institutions, prepared annually within the criteria determined by YÖK, are published. Reports prepared according to these reports, containing quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

Every year, YÖK publishes the "Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report", which includes academic, administrative, and financial data on foundation higher education institutions. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK. Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is provided according to the "Procedures and Principles for Providing Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs":

1. Design and Approval of Curriculum: YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required to open undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions.

1.1. The curriculum of undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes that each program will bring to the student are determined by the senates of higher education institutions by the fundamental principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

1.2. Higher education institutions implement the curriculum of National Core Education Programs with the approval of the Council of Higher Education after being accepted by the relevant Deans Council.

2. Measurement-Evaluation: How to measure and evaluate the learning outcomes that each undergraduate program will provide to the student is carried out by the education, training, and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions by the fundamental principles determined by the Council of Higher Education on these issues.

3. Certification: Students enrolled in undergraduate programs, if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions, receive a bachelor's degree.

4. Self-Evaluation-External Evaluation: In continuous monitoring, higher education institutions submit the "Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports" of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. The "Institutional Feedback Report" prepared by YÖKAK regarding the external evaluation of higher education institutions is shared with the public

In addition, accreditation decisions made by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also show that the quality assurance of the programs' qualifications is ensured. It conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined by the YÖKAK legislation.

Social Humanities and Basic Sciences Accreditation and Rating Association (STAR)

Accreditation start/end dates: 11.07.2023 - 11.07.2027

The admissions of students to this programme is made according to the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM – University Entrance Exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (YÖK). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Centre about what programme they would like to study at, students are placed in the related programme according to their scores they got from the exam.
International (foreign) students are accepted to this undergraduate programme according to the score of one of internationally acceptable exams they take such as SAT, ACT etc. or according to their high school diploma score.
Exchange student admission is accepted according to the requirements determined by bilateral agreements signed by İstanbul Arel University and the partner university. Guest students may enroll into the courses in this programme, if the related academic unit approves all requirements. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the programme.

Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle (master's) and in some cases, to third cycle (doctorate) degree programmes in or related fields of. According to the National Regulations on Graduate Education, students are admitted to second cycle (master’s) degree programmes taking into account their first cycle degree CGPA achievement and/or the score obtained from the subject-specific "Academic and Graduate Education Entry Examination (ALES)" centrally administered nation-wide by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Within the framework of the national regulations, regulations endorsed by the senate of each university stipulate the weight of ALES Examination results in the overall evaluation of candidates. Depending on the institutions' regulations, for some programmes to be accessed, a certain level of foreign language proficiency is also required. In the overall evaluation of candidates, scores obtained from ALES Examination are allotted a minimum score of 55 and a weight of 50% for the second cycle (master's) programmes, which require a thesis work. ALES score is not compulsory and may not be taken into account for accessing to the second cycle (master's) programmes, which do not require a thesis work.
