The aim of the undergraduate program of the Department of Turkish Folklore is to educate students who have a conscious, critical perspective, researcher and ethical values. In addition, every student who graduates from the department should learn to take an active role in the creation of the future. It is our aim to provide students with the necessary, internationally recognized knowledge and skills not only in the field of Turkish Folklore but also in the fields of Turkish culture, history, intangible cultural heritage, media, museology. It is aimed to train researchers and practitioners who aim to use the knowledge and experience produced in the field of folklore in order to produce social benefits, to produce projects as well as scientific publications.

Located in the center of Ankara, Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University is close to many shopping centers, guesthouses, dormitories and residential areas. It offers its students all the opportunities of modern urban life, from entertainment to culture and art, from shopping to nutrition, and has all the advantages of being a city university.

• They have the knowledge of basic concepts and theories of Turkish Folklore.
• They learn and use the folklore research methods and technics effectively.
• They get the knowledge of the history of folklore studies and understand the situation of Turkish folklore studies in the world folklore studies.
• They know and use the oral and written Turkish cultural resources.
• In order to have a holistic approach to cultural processes, they make multidisciplinary observations using the data of other social science disciplines.
• They master the eras and texts of Turkish literature and can analyse Turkish culture on literary texts.
• They can use their theoretical knowledge and application abilities related to traditional Turkish folk theatre, folk music and folk dances.
• They analyze the social practices based on traditions, customs and folk beliefs and develop new models on applied folklore.
• They can relate world cultures to mythhologies and also make comparative studies.
• They generate, compose and share information in Turkish folklore field by using data and internet technologies.
• They gain basic theoretical knowledge in fields such as media, tourism, animation and adapt them into applied folklore field.
• They can execute folklore museology in terms of identification, archiving, storage, exhibition and safeguarding of the cultural heritage.

• They have a command of the periods and texts of Turkish literature and analyze Turkish culture through literary texts.
• They establish a relationship between world cultures and mythologies and can make comparative studies.
• They gain basic theoretical knowledge in areas such as media, tourism, animation, and adapt them to applied folklore studies.

(1) Whether a student is considered successful in a course is determined by the course achievement grade. The course achievement grade is calculated using the relative grading method, based on the student's performance in midterm exams, submitted assignments, practical work, and other assessment methods throughout the semester/year, as well as the final exam results. The impact of assessment criteria other than midterm and final exams on the achievement grade cannot exceed 10%. 
(2) The achievement grade is determined using one of the methods prescribed by the Student Information and Management System (ÖİBS) and approved by the Senate, considering the overall performance of the class, arithmetic averages, and statistical distribution.
(3) The raw achievement grade of a course is calculated by summing 40% of the midterm exam score and 60% of the final or resit exam score.
(4) Exam results are entered into the ÖİBS by the course instructor within the period specified in the academic calendar and announced to students. The grades become final on the day they are approved by the instructor.

Article 24 – (1) The coefficients of course achievement grades are applied as follows:

2) A student is considered successful in a course if they receive an AA, BA, BB, CB, CC, DC, or DD grade.

(3) Students who do not attend the semester/year-end exam are given a GR grade regardless of their performance during the semester/year, and this grade is recorded as zero in the system.

(4) DZ and GR grades are treated as FF and are included in the calculation of the weighted grade point average. Courses failed with DZ or GR grades must be retaken in the following semester/year as a priority.

(5) Grades for courses taken at other higher education institutions within the last five years are converted into letter grades. The criteria for grade conversion are determined by the Senate.

In addition, students with a semester/year grade point average of at least 2.00 are also considered successful in courses where they received a (DC) grade for that semester/year. This result is expressed as (DC+).

In order to monitor the quality of higher education programs;

• YÖK is responsible for planning, organizing, managing and supervising education and training and other activities in higher education institutions.

• “University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports” of higher education institutions prepared within the framework of criteria determined by YÖK are published every year. The reports prepared according to these reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

• “Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report”, which includes academic, administrative and financial data of foundation higher education institutions, is published every year by YÖK. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK. Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is provided according to the “Procedures and Principles for Providing Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs”:

1. Creation and Approval of Curriculum: The Council of Higher Education determines the minimum standards and criteria required for establishing undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions.

1.1. The curriculum of undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes that each program will provide to students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by the Council of Higher Education on these issues.

1.2. The curriculum of the National Core Curriculum is approved by the relevant Deans' Council and implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of the Council of Higher Education.

2. Measurement and Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes that each undergraduate program will provide to students is carried out in accordance with the education and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by the Council of Higher Education on these issues.

3. Certification: Students enrolled in undergraduate programs receive a bachelor's degree if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by the higher education institutions.

4. Self Assessment-External Assessment: In the context of continuous monitoring, higher education institutions enter the “Internal Institutional Assessment Reports” of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the “Institutional Feedback Report” prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions made by accreditation institutions authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also show that the quality assurance of the program qualifications is provided. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with its legislation.

Graduates of the department can work as a museum researcher at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Ankara Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum in Hamamönü district. In addition, our graduates have the possibility of becoming a Museum Researcher of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and they have the right to apply for the exams (to be appointed as a teacher) of Turkish Language and Literature Education of the Ministry of National Education. They have the possibility to work as specialized personnel in cultural units of municipalities and city museums. They can work in municipal or private museums on Intangible Cultural Heritage. They have the chance to establish such a museum on behalf of the Municipality or on its own. They have the right to enter KPSS (public personnel selection examination) to which graduates may apply. They have the opportunity to work in various positions in all private or public institutions related to education, culture, tourism and media. They get the opportunity to know UNESCO and the Convention on the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and meet international arena. They have the possibility to take part in various international institutions and organizations conducting cultural researches and projects with press and media organizations. They have the chance to be an academician at departments of folklore at universities.
