It is a higher education program that spans eight semesters based on secondary education qualifications and provides education focused on a specific field of study or profession.

The Department of Turkish Language and Literature has a four-year undergraduate program. Elective courses contain thirty percent of the courses in the department. While writing the contents of these courses, instructors also pay attention to the requirements of Turcology,as well as practical aspects of different disciplines and interdisciplinary cooperation. Just as students can elect courses from different departments according to their interests, they can also select other courses that they need after their bachelor’s degree from the total elective courses of Turkish Language and Literature department.

Education and training are conducted in formal, open, or distance learning formats.

• Has advanced theoretical and applied knowledge in a way to prioritize the scientific approach supported by textbooks, application tools and other resources containing up-to-date information in the field of Turkish Language and Literature.
• Adapts and transfers the knowledge gained in the field of Turkish Language and Literature to secondary education.
• Uses advanced theoretical and applied knowledge gained in the field of Turkish Language and Literature.
• It refreshes this information depending on the conditions of the day.
• Using the advanced knowledge and skills acquired in the field of Turkish Language and Literature, it interprets and evaluates data, defines and analyzes problems in parallel with current technological developments, and develops solutions based on research and evidence.
• Have the ability to conceptualize events and facts related to Turkish Language and Literature; examines with scientific methods and techniques.
• Designs and performs experiments to examine problems, collects data, analyzes and interprets results.
• Conducts an advanced study on Turkish Language and Literature independently.
• Takes responsibility, individually and as a team member, to solve complex unforeseen problems encountered in practices related to the field of Turkish Language and Literature.
• It plans and manages activities for the development of employees under its responsibility within the framework of a project.
• It plays a role in the decision-making process in the problems encountered in different disciplines.
• Students uses time effectively in the process of drawing conclusions with his analytical thinking ability.

• Follows the information in the field and communicates with colleagues by using a foreign language at least at the European Language Portfolio B1 General Level.
• Uses information and communication technologies together with computer software with at least the Advanced Level of the European Computer Use License required by the Turkish Language and Literature Field.
• Students uses his knowledge on human health and environmental awareness in the field of Turkish Language and Literature for the benefit of society.
• It acts in accordance with social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the stages of collecting, interpreting, applying and announcing the results related to Turkish Language and Literature.
• Students has sufficient awareness of the universality of social rights, social justice, quality management and compliance with and participation in (instead of quality culture) and protection of cultural values, environmental protection, occupational health and safety.

The purpose of Turkish Language and Literature is to educate students and researchers as people who are capable of analysing the structure and development of Turkish language; are well-informed about periods, literary figures, literary works, features of Turkish Literature and Turkish Culture; are familiar with universal culture, have creative thought and a discipline in research methods and able to create solutions for problems. It is to be a department conducting education, research and application in the field of basic and human sciences nationally and internationally.

Decided by the course instructor, mid-term and term examination marks are calculated as follows: 40% or 50% of mid-term examination and homeworks-projects activitiy, and 50% or 60% of final examination of the lessons. For each course, term studies (exams, homework, projects, presentations, etc.) and the final exams are performed.

In order to monitor the quality of higher education programs;

1. 1. YÖK is responsible for planning, organizing, managing and supervising education and training and other activities in higher education institutions.
   2. “University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports” of higher education institutions prepared within the framework of criteria determined by YÖK are published every year. Reports prepared according to these reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.
   3. “Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report”, which includes academic, administrative and financial data of foundation higher education institutions, is published every year by YÖK. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

The quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is provided according to the “Procedures and Principles for the Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs”:

1. Creation and Approval of Curriculum:

The minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions are determined by YÖK.

1.1. The curriculum of undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes that each program will provide to students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by the Council of Higher Education on these issues.

1.2. The curriculum of the National Core Education Programs is implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of YÖK after being approved by the relevant Deans Council.

2. Measurement and Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes that each undergraduate program will provide to students is carried out in accordance with the education and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

3. Certification: Students enrolled in undergraduate programs receive a bachelor's degree if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions.

4. Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: In the context of continuous monitoring, higher education institutions enter the "Internal Institutional Evaluation Reports" of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the "Institutional Feedback Report" prepared by the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public.

In addition, accreditation decisions made by accreditation institutions authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also show that the quality assurance of the program qualifications is provided. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

Turkish Language and Literature Program was accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Curriculums of Faculties of Science, Literature, Science-Literature, Language and History-Geography (FEDEK) between 02.06.2023 and 30.09.2025.

FOR TURKISH STUDENTS

In the framework of the regulations determined by Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK), student admission to this undergraduate program is carried out through a university entrance examination named ÖSYS. Following the submission of students’ academic program preferences, they are placed into the relevant program according to the score they get from ÖSYS by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTSInternational students are accepted to the program according to the score of one of the international exams they have taken such as SAT I,ACT, GCE etc. or according to their scores of the International Student Examination held by Turkish universities within the admission requirements on condition that their score is sufficient.

FOR EXCHANGE STUDENTS

Exchange student admission is carried out according to the requirements determined by bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, Farabi, Mevlana or General Academic Memorandum) signed by BEUN and the partner university.

FOR VISITING STUDENTSVisiting students can enroll for the courses offered in programs upon the confirmation of the related academic unit. Additionally, students need to submit proof of their English language level for enrollment since the medium of instruction in some lectures is English.

FOR MASTER’S DEGREE

Students must apply the related Institutes with the required documents within the dates announced in the BEU website. Requirements for application and documents required have been determined in the BEU regulation of Postgraduate Education and Examination.

Students who have successfully completed their Bachelor’s Degree can study at postgraduate level (Master’s or Doctorate) on condition that they attain an acceptable score at ALES and have sufficient proficiency in foreign language.
