Key Learning Outcomes;

Graduates of the programs will be able to;

1. Graduates of this program will (be able to): Explain major sociological concepts and theories.
2. Apply research methods in sociology
3. Design and carry out all the components of a research project
4. Critically analyze written and visual texts with social scientific methods
5. Compare and contrast major sociological theories and approaches
6. Develop a perspective in handling social problems on the basis of equity, social justice and human rights principles.
7. Critically evaluate local, national and global societal issues

Supplementary Learning Outcomes;

Graduates of the programs will be able to;

1. design, implement, and present sociological research in its various stages at both the individual and group project levels.
2. undertake a critical analysis of the complex relationship between the individual and society.
3. follow developments in other areas of the social sciences and humanities and maintaining continuous interaction with those fields.
4. access data in the contemporary world and show the ability to utilize electronic data bases.
5. use the learning skills gained throughout one’s formal education in future years and thus continuously renew and upgrade oneself.
6. follow the literature, new developments, and debates in the field of sociology in a foreign language.
7. develop an understanding of cultural diversity and sensitivity to issues of social justice, equality, and human rights.

(1) High School Diploma (2) Placement through a nation-wide Student Selection and Placement Examinations (3) Certificate of Istanbul Bilgi University English Language Exam (BILET) or acceptable score of TOEFL or similar internationally recognised exams (4) For graduates of short-cycle degree programmes from the same or related fields of studies of vocational schools (MYOs), placement through a nation-wide Vertical Transfer Examination (Dikey Geçiş Sınavı) (5) For foreign students, placement by direct applications of candidates to the university and assessment by the university within the frameworks of the publicly available national and institutional regulations published on the university’s web site

Graduates follow careers in diverse fields as human resources, advertising, publishing, or market research. Some continue their education at the post-graduate level in Turkey or in a number of world-class universities in other countries. In addition, some of our graduates hold positions as project coordinators or administrators in the many NGOs that have come to play an increasingly important place in Turkey.

Qualification is valid indefinitely.
