The aim of the Architecture Program is to train architects who are competent in design, theory and practice by establishing a meaningful and sustainable connection between traditional and new approaches; who are creative, inquisitive and have an innovative thinking system that takes environmental factors and core values into consideration.

Teaching is done formally and remotely. Laboratories and workshops are used for practical courses, and internships and workplace practice activities are carried out in the field.

• Have the ability to examine the information obtained from the research that conducted to develop solutions in architectural design and planning processes, to evaluate it comparatively, to question it within the framework of ethical principles and to express abstract thoughts effectively.
• Have the knowledge and skills to apply basic architectural principles to settlement, building and interior design at different spatial scales by considering user needs and addressing ethical approaches in the context of universal design principles such as sustainability and accessibility.
• Gain the ability to transfer ideas related to the field of architecture to different representation environments, to express each stage of the design process using traditional methods and/or information technologies, and to communicate at national/international levels.
• Understand world architecture and architectural examples of the geography in question in the context of historical and cultural relations.
• Gain awareness of protecting the cultural heritage in the historical environment at the scale of a single structure and texture, become aware of environmental sensitivity and ethical responsibility, and understand current conservation theories and methods within the framework of relevant legal regulations.
• Understand and have the ability to apply the basic techniques in the documentation, survey/restitution and restoration processes of cultural heritage.
• Understand how to construct site selection decisions, urban design principles, transportation connections and building plan types, taking into account the natural (topography, vegetation, climate, etc.), built and social environment (social, cultural, economic) data and characteristics of settlements and their natural disaster risk resistance.
• Know the basic principles of environmental systems and have the ability to make sustainable designs by using various tools to minimize undesirable environmental impacts on future generations.
• Understand the importance of the interaction between natural/built environment design and cultural heritage and humans, and is aware of responsibilities regarding spatial identity, respect for cultural and natural resources, improving the quality of life, and protecting the public interest.
• Understand the behavior principles of static and dynamic load-bearing systems supported by vertical and lateral forces, and the development and applications of contemporary load-bearing systems.
• Gain the ability to evaluate, select and integrate structural, environmental, security, building envelope and building service systems in building design.
• Understand the basic principles of building physics and energy use in the design of physical environmental systems such as lighting, acoustics, air conditioning, etc., and gain skills in the use of appropriate performance evaluation tools.
• Understand the principles and standards regarding the production, use and application of building materials, their environmental impacts and reusability in the context of technological developments.
• Gain the ability to plan, manage, analyze architectural work processes and present the output of these processes in a professional manner by effectively using modern technological tools; at the same time, learn to use these tools to develop creative and innovative solutions.
• Gain the ability to develop and integrate the architectural project program at different scales, considering the public interest, according to the employer/user needs, spatial and equipment requirements, financial limitations, land conditions, relevant laws, regulations and design criteria, and taking into account building technologies.
• Understand the ethical approaches required for the formation of professional judgments regarding social, political and cultural elements in professional development and the legal framework that have a determining role in the architect's responsibilities to society.
• In order to successfully complete design and implementation projects, independently handle issues such as project acquisition methods, selection of consultants, formation of project teams, project delivery methods, service contracts, etc. and have the ability to work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Understand the basic principles of the architectural application process such as financial management, business planning, quality management, risk management, discussion, compromise, etc. and the methods of organizing and developing building design and application processes, taking into account the environmental, social and aesthetic sensitivities of society.

Exams
Students are subjected to a final exam in addition to the exams they have taken before or the work they have done. At least one midterm exam is given to students each semester. In addition to midterm exams, quizzes may be given without a specified date. The criteria to be taken into consideration in the evaluation of course success (midterm exam, homework, final exam, etc.) and their rates are specified in the curriculum programs distributed to students at the beginning of the semester or published on the website. Final exams are held on the dates, places and times announced by the University. Students' end-of-term success grades are given by the faculty member/staff responsible for the course according to their midterm and final exam grades, their studies during the semester, and course attendance rules. Courses for which no midterm and/or final exams will be held are determined by the relevant department heads and college directorates and submitted to the Student Affairs Directorate. End-of-term success grades for these courses are determined according to the studies students have conducted throughout the semester. End-of-term success grades are submitted to the Student Affairs Directorate by the relevant faculty member/staff, together with the success evaluation criteria.
Grades
For each course taken by students, the raw grade given by the faculty member at the end of the semester is converted into the equivalent letter grade below based on one of the evaluation systems of relative evaluation, faculty member's discretion, and direct grade conversion.

Passing Grades
Students who have a passing grade of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC in a course will directly pass that course. Students who receive a DC or DD grade in any course will be considered to have conditionally passed that course.
Repeating a Course
Students must first take the courses they failed by receiving an FF in the final exams of the previous academic year at the beginning of the semester. There is no attendance requirement for courses that were not failed due to absenteeism. However, students in this situation must continue with the course's practical, laboratory, workshop and similar studies.
Successful Students
Students who have taken and passed all their courses by the end of the academic year and who are highly successful according to the criteria determined by the Senate are considered honor and high honor students. The list of these students is announced by the relevant dean's office/directorate at the end of the academic year.
I Incomplete grade is given to students who were successful during the semester but could not complete the necessary conditions for the course except attendance. If a student receives an I grade in any course, he/she must complete the deficiencies and receive a grade within two weeks from the date the grades are announced. This period may be extended by the decision of the relevant board of directors. Otherwise, the I grade is converted to an FF grade.

E Exempt grade (Exempted) is given to those who are successful in the exemption exam, those who come with horizontal and vertical transfers, and courses previously taken and passed while studying at another higher education institution. E grades are not included in the average calculations.
NA Not Attended grade (Not Attended) is given to students who cannot meet the attendance requirements. It is treated like an FF grade in evaluations.
S Successful grade (Succesful) is given to students who are successful in their thesis studies. The S grade is also used in cases of success in non-credit courses such as term projects, field, clinical and laboratory studies, and seminars. The S grade is not included in the general grade point average.
U Unsuccesful grade (U Unsuccesful) is given to students who are unsuccessful in their thesis studies. The U grade is also used in cases of failure in non-credit courses such as term projects, field, clinical and laboratory studies, and seminars. The U grade is not included in the general grade point average.
Objection to Exam Results
Students who want to object to exam results at Istanbul Arel University must write an objection petition to the relevant faculty dean's office within three business days of the announcement of the exam results. After the petition is submitted, the instructor of the course who read the objected paper must submit his/her response to the relevant dean's office in writing within five business days. The current new result is sent to the student affairs office by the dean's office for correction.

In order to monitor the quality of higher education programs;

· YÖK is responsible for the planning, organization, management and supervision of education and other activities at higher education institutions.

· “University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports” of higher education institutions are prepared and published every year within the framework of the criteria determined by YÖK. Reports prepared on these documents, containing quantitative and qualitative evaluations for higher education institutions, are publicized by YÖK.

· The “Report on Foundation Higher Education Institutions” which includes academic, administrative and financial data regarding foundation higher education institutions is published annually by YÖK. These reports including quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions are publicized by YÖK. Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is provided according to the “Procedures and Principles on Quality Assurance regarding the Diploma Programs in Higher Education”:

 1. Creation and Authorization of Education Programs:

1.1. YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required to initiate undergraduate degree departments and programs at higher education institutions.

1.2. The curricula of undergraduate degree programs at higher education institutions, as well as the learning outcomes to be expected in relation to students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the relevant basic principles determined by YÖK.

1.3. The curricula of National Core Education Programs is implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of YÖK, upon their acceptance by the relevant Council of Deans.

 2. Measurement and Evaluation: The  measurement and evaluation processes on the learning outcomes to be expected for each undergraduate degree program in relation to students are undertaken in accordance with the regulations on education and examination prepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the relevant basic principles determined by YÖK.

3. Documentation: Upon successful completion of their course credits, as well as other obligations determined by higher education institutions, students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs receive a bachelor’s degree.

4. Self-Evaluation - External Evaluation: In the context of continuous monitoring, higher education institutions upload their “Institution Internal Evaluation Reports” of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Board (THEQC) at the beginning of each year. The “Institutional Feedback Report” by THEQC regarding the external evaluation of higher education institutions is then publicized. In addition, accreditation decisions made by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by THEQC also show that the quality assurance is ensured for the qualifications of these programs. THEQC undertakes regular reviews on the qualifications determined in accordance with their legislation.

The admissions of students to this programme is made according to the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM – University Entrance Exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (YÖK). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Centre about what programme they would like to study at, students are placed in the
related programme according to their scores they got from the exam. International (foreign) students are accepted to this undergraduate programme according to the score of one of internationally acceptable exams they take such as SAT, ACT etc. or according
to their high school diploma score. Exchange student admission is accepted according to the requirements determined by bilateral
agreements signed by İstanbul Arel University and the partner university. Guest students may enroll into the courses in this programme, if the related academic unit approves all requirements. Exchange student admission is accepted according to the requirements determined by bilateral agreements signed by Istanbul Arel University and the partner university. Guest students may enroll into the courses in this programme, if the related academic unit approves all requirements. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the programme.

Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle (master's) and in some cases, to third cycle (doctorate) degree programmes in or related fields of. According to the National Regulations on Graduate Education, students are admitted to second cycle (master’s) degree programmes taking into account their first cycle degree CGPA achievement and/or the score obtained from the subject-specific "Academic and Graduate Education Entry Examination (ALES)" centrally administered nation-wide by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Within the framework of the national regulations, regulations endorsed by the senate of each university stipulate the weight of ALES Examination results in the overall evaluation of candidates. Depending on the institutions' regulations, for some programmes to be accessed, a certain level of foreign language proficiency is also required. In the overall evaluation of candidates, scores obtained from ALES Examination are allotted a minimum score of 55 and a weight of 50% for the second cycle (master's) programmes, which require a thesis work. ALES score is not compulsory and may not be taken into account for accessing to the second cycle (master's) programmes, which do not require a thesis work.
