The Department of Architecture aims to train architects who can think creatively, critically and analytically, who are equipped with an awareness of history and society, who are sensitive to the environment, who internalise ethical and aesthetic values, who understand, interpret and question general architectural issues.

The physical resources required for architectural education (studio spaces, classrooms that allow different learning techniques, and other spaces and equipment required for teaching, learning and research) are shown in the table below. BAUN Department of Architecture students are educated in studios with drawing tables, computer labs and theoretical classrooms. There are drawing spaces and resting areas that students can use during extracurricular activities. In addition to drawing tables, projectors, PCs and laptops belonging to the department are used in architecture studios. Digital presentation facilities and internet access are provided in project courses and other courses.

Measurement and evaluation methods; exam types and their contribution to the course grade are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Different methods such as homework, project, application, midterm and final exam are used in measurement and evaluation. Systems based on letters or grades are used in the evaluation of student success. The contribution of in-semester evaluations to the success grade is calculated as 40%, and the contribution of final evaluations to the success grade is calculated as 60%. The success grade of a course is converted into one of the letter grades in the table below according to the principles determined by the Senate:

To monitor the quality of higher education programmes;

YÖK is responsible for the planning, organisation, management and supervision of education and training and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.

‘University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports’ of higher education institutions prepared every year within the framework of the criteria determined by CoHE are published. The reports prepared according to these reports, including quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

Quality assurance of undergraduate programmes in higher education is ensured according to the ‘Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programmes’:

1. Creation and Approval of Education Programmes:

1.1. YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of undergraduate departments and programmes in higher education institutions.

1.2. The curriculum of undergraduate programmes in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes to be gained by the students in each programme are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK.

1.3. The curricula of the National Core Education Programmes are adopted by the relevant Council of Deans and implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of the Council of Higher Education.

2. Assessment and Evaluation: How the measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes of each undergraduate programme will be carried out is determined by the Council of Higher Education.

3. Certification: Students enrolled in undergraduate programmes receive an undergraduate diploma upon successful completion of course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions.

4. Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: Higher education institutions, in the context of continuous monitoring, enter the ‘Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports’ of the previous year at the beginning of each year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK). YÖKAK shares the ‘Institutional Feedback Report’ prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions given by accreditation bodies authorised or recognised by YÖKAK also indicate that the quality assurance of the qualifications of the programmes is ensured. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

The programme has received ‘Conditional 2-Year Accreditation’ by the Architectural Accreditation Board (MIAK - MAK).

• Having graduated from secondary education institutions or foreign secondary education institutions whose equivalence is approved by the Ministry of National Education and meeting the conditions of admission to the undergraduate programs of higher education institutions.
• Having been placed in the relevant undergraduate program of the higher education institution as a result of the central examination held by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM), the procedures and principles of which are determined by YÖK.
• Having obtained sufficient points as a result of the central examination held by ÖSYM for the programmes of higher education institutions that accept students through special talent exams, the procedures and principles of which are determined by YÖK, and having been successful in the special talent examination.

Having been placed in undergraduate programs that are the continuation of the fields they have completed in higher education institutions for associate degree graduates as a result of the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS), the procedures and principles of which are determined by YÖK and conducted by ÖSYM.

• Graduates with a bachelor's degree can apply to the master's programmes offered within the Department of Architecture of the university.
• Graduates of the programme can work at various levels in the design, implementation and supervision of all types of buildings in the public and private sectors.
