- Gerek hastalıklar gerek tedavi prosedürü gerekse laboratuvar ve saha çalışmaları hususlarında bilgili ve becerili bireyler yetiştirme.
- Mesleki ozgüven ve girişimcilik becerisine sahip olmak.
- Alanı ile ilgili uygulamalar için gerekli olan modern teknikleri, araçları ve bilişim teknolojilerini belirleme ve etkin kullanabilmek.
- Öğrenciler her ders için ara sınav ve yarıyıl sonu sınavına tabi tutulurlar. Başarı notuna, ara sınavın katkısı %40, yarıyıl sonu sınavının katkısı %60 şeklindedir. Tüm sınavlar 100 puan üzerinden değerlendirilir. Yarıyıl sonu sınavından en az 45 puan alma zorunluluğu vardır. Bir dersten AA, BA, BB, CB ve CC harf notlarından birini alan öğrenciler o dersi başarmış sayılır.
- Ayrıca, bir yarıyıla ait not ortalaması en az 2.00 olan öğrenciler, DC harf notu aldıkları derslerden de başarılı sayılır. Öğrenciler, her yarıyılın sonunda, o yarıyıla ait en çok iki dersten bütünleme sınavına girebilir. Hayvanlara ve hayvancılığa ilgi duymak, kan ve çeşitli vücut ekstraktlarından etkilenmemek, soğuk kanlı olmak, mesleği severek tercih etmiş olmak ve ÖSYM tarafından yapılan sınavdan yeterli puanı almak bölümde okuyabilmek için yeterli koşullardır.
Üniversite Giriş Sınavıından yeterli puan alan veya sınavsız geçiş şartlarını sağlayan öğrenciler bölümün ön lisans programına başlamaya hak kazanırlar. Eğitim dili Türkçedir.
- Bölüm mezunları, çalışma hayatına iki mesleğe birden sahip olmaktadırlar laborantlık bolümü ile normal hastanelerde ve özel laboratuarlarda laborant unvanı ile çalışabilmektedirler.
- Veteriner bölümü ile Tarım bakanlığına bağlı hayvan sağlığı ile ilgili şube müdürlüklerinde büyükbaş ve küçükbaş hayvan çiftliklerinde, hayvan hastanelerinde, pet shoplarda, ilaç fabrikalarında ve firmalarında, belediye mezbahalarında özel kliniklerde yardımcı eleman olarak çalışma imkânına sahiptirler.
- Aynı zamanda program öğrencileri bulundukları bölgenin şartlarına uygun tarımsal üretim kollarında faaliyette gösteren iş kolları veya kendilerine ait tarımsal faaliyette de bulunabilmektedirler.
- Bunun yanında özel sektörde de nitelikli veteriner sağlık ve laborantlık mezunlarına olan ilgi giderek artmaktadır.
