Description

To be able to develop and deepen their knowledge at the level of expertise in the same or a different field based on their undergraduate level qualifications. To be able to comprehend the interdisciplinary interaction related to the field. To be able to use theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of expertise. To be able to interpret the knowledge gained in the field by integrating it with the information coming from different disciplines and to be able to create new knowledge. To be able to conduct an independent study related to the field. - To be able to develop new strategic approaches for solving complex and unpredictable problems encountered in applications related to the field and to be able to produce solutions by taking responsibility. - To be able to lead in environments that require solving problems related to the field. To be able to evaluate the knowledge and skills acquired in the field with a critical approach and to direct the learning. To be able to transfer the current developments in the field and their studies with quantitative and qualitative data to the groups in and out of the field in written, oral and visual form. - To be able to examine and develop social relations and the norms that direct these relations with a critical point of view and to take action if necessary to change them. - To be able to communicate verbally and in writing by using a foreign language at least at the level of European Language Portfolio B2 General Level. - To be able to use information and communication technologies at the level required by the field with computer software. To be able to control and evaluate the social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the data collection, interpretation, implementation and announcement stages of the field. - To be able to develop strategy, policy and implementation plans related to the field and to evaluate the obtained results within the framework of quality processes. - To be able to use the knowledge, problem solving and / or application skills in interdisciplinary studies. Key Competencies-
Further Info

70 % attendance is a must for graduate courses. Examinations may be written, oral or both and may include take-home as well as lab and computer work. At least one 1hr mid-term and one 2hr final plus a completion (in case final grades are insufficient) examination is administered by the instructor. Course grades are based on term work (30 %) and final (or completion) exam (70 %) results. A student in MA program is considered successful if course grade is at least 65, out of 100. Course grades are then converted to equivalent letter grades according to the following scheme: Letter Coefficient Grade (100 based) AA 4,00 90 – 100, BA 3,50/85 – 89, BB 3,00/80 – 84, CB 2,50/75 – 79, CC 2,00/65 – 74, FF 0,00/0 – 64, G(Pass), M(Exempt), D(No attention), K(Fail), E(Incomplete). Letter grades (G), (M), (K) are not considered in GPA calculations.

Access Requirements

Those who have a BS or equivalent degree in the fields accepted by the Graduate School of Social Sciences and a grade of at least 55 in equal weight tests of ALES qualify to apply for graduate programs for a Master’s degree in the respective field. All applications are evaluated by the Institute of Social Sciences, thus must be submitted to the Institute directly. Placement is processed, starting with the most competitive candidate, according to a rating based on BA GPA (40 %) and ALES grade (60 %), within the quota allowed by the respective department by the Institute. Application Requirements for Foreign Nationals and Turks Abroad Foreign citizens who meet the requirements of YOK can apply graduate programs; such applicants and Turks living abroad must a) Have an equivalent BA or MA diploma from institutions accepted equivalent by YOK b) Prove proficiency in Turkish and in a second internationally spoken language. Admitted candidates may be required to enroll a scientific preparatory program, determined by the respective department.

Conditions for SuccessTo begin graduate studies, undergraduate degree must be taken and the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam is necessary to have enough points.
