The Undergraduate Program in Business Administration in English at Beykoz University is an academic bachelor’s program designed in accordance with the European Higher Education Area Quality Framework (QF-EHEA) Level 1, the European Life Long Learning Quality Framework (EQF-LLL), the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TYÇ), and the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework Level 6. The Undergraduate Program in Management Engineering designed to meet the needs of businesses in the relevant field and level, and to gain advanced knowledge and practical application competencies for the employment of graduates in the relevant sector or sectors.

The field and the level codes of the program are given below classified in accordance with the International Standard Classification in Education (ISCED 1997, ISCED 2011, ISCED 2013) and with the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TYÇ) and Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework.

Program-Specific Criteria

Through courses such as Introduction to Business, Management and Organization, Organizational Theory and Design, Production Management, and Integrated Management Systems, students gain knowledge about the structure, types, and management of companies, and acquire program-specific criteria.

With courses like Scientific Writing, Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, and Operations Research, students develop scientific methods, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret, thereby gaining program-specific criteria.

PSC1: Equip students with theoretical knowledge in core business fields such as accounting, marketing, management, production, and human resources, and enable them to analyze real business case studies.
Courses such as Strategic Management, Financial Accounting, Marketing, Production Management, and Human Resources Management help students acquire business functions.

PSC2: Provide students with knowledge in management information systems, entrepreneurship, and process management, equipping them with the analytical skills necessary to become active employers or professionals in the business world.
These skills are taught through courses such as Entrepreneurship and Startup Management, Integrated Management Systems, and Management Information Systems.

Learning takes place in the form of formal full-time program.

1) Applies the theoretical knowledge of fundemantal areas of management science such as strategic management, organization, accounting, finance, marketing and human resources
2) Has the knowledge in complementary/supportive fields of management science such as mathematics, statistics, behavioral sciences, law, and information technologies.
3) Plans and uses economic, technological and information resources and tools effectively in real business situations with the help of appropriate theories and methods
4) Develops solutions for regional and global issues with a scientific logic
5) Applies theoretical knowledge in business life as an intern for one semester
6) Systematically and effectively presents the learning outcomes, supports his/her arguments with quantitative and qualitative data, uses written, oral and visual communication means to a group of people including both experts and non-experts
7) Has a critical evaluation on existing norms and standards in the projects under his/her responsibility
8) Has the problem-solving capacity, takes responsibility for working as a teammate, leading in situations whenever it calls for duty, and develops competency to manage change and conflict
9) Represents ethical values and has social responsibility awareness in business environment
10) Has the capacity for evaluating global changes, and implement innovation and innovative work principles
11) Has an English level of at least at B2/B2+ specified in the European Language Portfolio

1. Students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of basic and complementary fields of management science by having competency in each and every functions fulfilled by modern management.
2. Students effectively manage economic, technological and human sources of a business with best available techniques.
3. Students have critical and innovative thinking, problem-solving capacity, time management capability and develop team-work, leadership and communication skills.
4. Students apply business ethics and standarts acknowledging the importance of social and environmental sustainability.
5. Students adopt life-long learning principle and have necessary skills to manage change.

Assessment, evaluation and final grade

Exams

ARTICLE 31 - (1) Exams consist of short and midterm exams and final exams, single course exams, make-up exams, exemption exams and additional exams which are held in the semester.

Final Grade

ARTICLE 38 – (1) The final grade of students in a formal program related to a course is calculated through; 50% of the weighted average of the grades they receive from the midterm assessment and evaluation activities and 50% of the grades they receive from the final exam.

(2) Evaluating a course depends on: Students whose grade of success and / or final grade are under 35 are considered to be unsuccessful for that course.

(3) There is no midterm and final examination for professional practice (internship) at work. The evaluation related to this learning activity is carried out through following the instructions of Beykoz University Professional Practice (Internship) Directive. The final grade of the related activity is evaluated by the grade of Successful (BI) and Unsuccessful (BZ); these grades are not included in the grade point average.

(4) The final grades of the courses that do not require midterm and/or final exams can be evaluated as Successful (BI) / Unsuccessful (BZ) with an absolute grade according to the quality of the courses ; these grades are not included in the grade point average.

(5) For the courses that do not require midterm and/or final exams and that have incomplete evaluation processes, Incomplete (E) grade can be given temporarily. The final grades of these courses are turned into absolute grades or Successful (BI) / Unsuccessful (BZ) when the evaluation process is complete.

Calculating final grade and explanations

ARTICLE 41 – (1) Final grades are calculated by considering statistical dispersion of grades and class average and converted to letter grades by “Beykoz University Relative Evaluation Directions”

For the numbers of students that are not applicable to minimum relative evaluation, absolute grading system is used. The correlation between absolute grades and letter grades and their numeric grade equivalents are given in Table 1.

a) A student who gets (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (DC) and (DD), (BI), (M) as a final grade for a class is considered to have passed from that class.

b) A student who gets (FD), (FF) from a class is considered to have failed from it.

c) Students who do not meet the attendance requirements of a class are given DZ grade. DZ grade is counted as FF when grade point average is calculated.

d) (BI) is given as a grade which is not added to the grade point average and for the classes a student has passed.   

e) (BZ) is given as a grade which is not added to the grade point average and for the classes a student has not passed.  

f) (M) is given as a grade which is not added to the grade point average, and is given to the students who is counted as exempt from a class as a result of the evaluation of the exemption  in accordance with paragraph 3 in article 29 of this regulation

g) (W) is a grade used to identify a students’ situation in the transcript in the event of a withdrawal from a class.

h) (E) Ungraded is a temporary grade which is given to the students when the assessment process has not been completed yet. (E) grade which is not changed within the predetermined deadline will be converted to a failed grade.

(2) Conversion of university letter grades to ECTS grades and vice versa is carried out in accordance with “Beykoz University ECTS Application Guideline”.

The Calculation of Grade Points Average

ARTICLE 42 – (1) Grade Points Average (GPA) is calculated on all the semesters by multiplying the number of credits given for a course times the value of the grade received for the course, adding the value calculated for each class and dividing by the total number of credits.

(2) Semester Grade Average is calculated within any semester by multiplying the number of credits given for a course times the value of the grade received for the course, adding the value calculated for each class and dividing by the total number of credits.

(3) Three-digit process is carried out in the calculation of the grade average and it is displayed in two-digit figure. During the rounding process, if the third digit figure after the decimal point is between 0-4, it is rounded downwards, but if it is between 5-9, it is rounded upwards.

• To provide and document the relevant ISO standards in important areas that will increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the administrative and support processes of our university,
• To apply the internal and external quality assurance standards and approaches defined within the framework of European Standards and Guidelines in Higher Education developed for the European Higher Education Area at the level of excellence in all education and training programs,
• To apply all the quality approach and requirements defined by the Higher Education Quality Council of Turkey at the level of excellence in all education and training programs.
• To deepen the quality management and quality assurance practices adopted at the institutional level on the basis of education and training programs, and to achieve national and internationally recognized program accreditations.

1. For Turkish Students;

In order for the students to receive education in bachelor and associate programs at any higher education institution in Turkey, the national student selection exam given by Measuring, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) has to be taken. The students are placed into these programs by ÖSYM in accordance with their score in these exams pursuant to their preferences. 

Students who are placed into the university by ÖSYM;

(1)   First registration procedures of the students who are placed into the University by ÖSYM (Measuring, Selection, and Placement Center) are conducted by Student’s Affairs Directorate in accordance with the calendar specified by the ÖSYM on the dates announced by the University.

(2)     In order for the final registrations of the students to be made, the original copies of the documents specified by ÖSYM and the documents required by the University or their copies approved by the University, if there are any must be submitted.

(3)    The registrations of the students who are understood not to meet the required conditions for final registration, who could not maintain these conditions, who have submitted falsified or altered statements or documents will be cancelled even if they have registered before.

Students placed with special talent examination;

(1) The applicant students applying to the programs that admit students with respect to the special talent examination results are accepted into the relevant programs pursuant to the procedures and principals determined by Council of Higher Education in accordance with the examination results conducted by the University. The registration procedures of those students are carried out pursuant to the provisions of article 9th.

Internal transfer students;

(1) The admission and registration with internal transfer of the students from national and overseas higher education institutions to the university’s bachelor or associate departments or programs are carried out pursuant to Regulation for Transfer between Associate and Bachelor Programs, Double Major, Minor and Interacademic Credit Transfer at Higher Education Institutions” published by Council of Higher Education  and Beykoz University Directive for Internal Transfer, External Transfer, Special Students and Extension Students.

External transfer students;

(1) The course equivalence procedures of the students who are placed into bachelor programs of the University with the external transfer examination held by ÖSYM are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the “Regulation on Continuation of Vocational School and Open University Associate Degree Program Graduates to Undergraduate Education, published by the Council of Higher Education and Beykoz University Directive for Internal Transfer, External Transfer, Special Students and Extension Student.

2. Admission of foreign students

The admission and registration procedures of the students who are Foreign or Turkish nationals coming from abroad to the University are carried out in accordance with the provisions of “Regulation for Foreign National Students Studying in Turkey”, “Principals for Admission of Foreign Students of Council of Higher Education” published by Council of Higher Education and Beykoz University Directive for Admission and Registration for the Students Coming from Abroad”.

3. Students of national and international exchange programs

Based on the mutual agreements made between the University and other higher education institutions, mutual student exchange programs can be implemented. During the exchange program’s duration, the registration of the student in the University continues. The student exchange programs are implemented based on the relevant regulation published by Higher Education Institution and the procedures and principals determined pursuant to the mutual agreements and Beykoz University Directive for Students Exchange Program.

Graduates of Business (English) Program have possibilities to work both in national and international institutions and they can have the opportunity to build their career.  Graduates of business administration department can also apply to Thesis/Non-Thesis Master's or Ph.D programs, on condition to fulfill the requirements.
