In order to obtain a bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (240 ECTS credits in total) and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00. The medium of instruction of the English Language Teaching program is English and the duration of study is 4 years. In the program, theoretical and practical Field Knowledge, Field Education, Teaching Professional Knowledge, General knowledge and Elective courses are included. In the first semesters, there are mainly field knowledge courses, and in the following semesters there are field education and elective courses. Professional Teaching Knowledge courses are distributed to all semesters. School Experience and Teaching Practice courses, which are implemented in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, take place in the last year of the program.

Education and training is carried out in the form of formal or distance education. In addition, practical training is carried out in laboratories and workshops within higher education institutions or in industry, health institutions and workplaces as internships or workplace training. 

• Follows the test development process in line with the methods appropriate to the gains and uses the valid and reliable measurement tools developed in the educational process.
• Uses pedagogical content knowledge related to foreign language teaching, learning/acquisition effectively.
• Applies the teaching process designed according to different principles and approaches in education according to various factors in learning environments.
• Analyzes the culture and literature of a foreign language.
• Develops materials specific to foreign language teaching and appropriate to the needs of the learner.
• Translates from the target language to the source language and from the source language to the target language with the awareness of translation theories and language-thought connection.
• Carries out inclusive psychological counseling and guidance services in schools in cooperation by using physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional development areas, learning principles and processes.
• Makes self-evaluation of individual development and lifelong learning in the learning and teaching process.
• Implements projects and activities prepared for the environment in which he/she lives with a sense of social responsibility.
• In line with the needs specific to his/her field, he/she follows current information technologies and adapts them effectively to teaching processes.
• Uses foreign language competence and intercultural communication skills within the framework of the four basic language skills, taking into account different periods, different social strata and environments in daily life through animation.
• Uses educational and administrative processes effectively and efficiently at different grade and school levels, taking into account different philosophical perspectives, sociological and historical backgrounds in educational institutions.
• Applies the knowledge, skills and competencies gained in the school environment in line with the qualifications required by the profession and national, spiritual and universal values.

(1) The grade point represents the 4-point scale equivalent of the raw grade point average calculated by taking into account the midterm and final exam scores of the students according to the prescribed weights. Relative or absolute evaluation system is used in the calculation of students' grade points. Whether the relative or absolute evaluation system will be used in the units is determined by the proposal of the unit council and the approval of the Senate.

(2) The principles of measurement and evaluation for relative and absolute evaluation systems, the conditions and limits for participation in the grade point calculation in the relative evaluation system, and the principles regarding the success levels are determined by the Senate.

(3) In both evaluation systems, students who do not take the final exam or makeup exam for a course and who cannot score at least 50 points out of 100 in this exam are considered unsuccessful. This limit may be changed by the proposal of the relevant unit council and the Senate decision. In units where makeup exams are not held and where midterm evaluations are weighted, there is no minimum grade requirement for passing the course from the final exam.

(4) The courses for which the student receives KM and G grades are not taken into account in the calculation of the CGPA.

The quality assurance of our undergraduate program in higher education is provided according to the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs":

1. Creation and Approval of Curricula:

 1.1. The minimum requirements for our undergraduate program are determined by YÖK.

 1.2. The curriculum of our undergraduate program and the learning outcomes that each program will provide to the student are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues. 

2. Assessment and Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes that our undergraduate program will provide to the student is carried out according to the education and training and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

 3. Certification: Students enrolled in our undergraduate programs, if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions; receive a bachelor's degree.

 4. Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: Within the scope of our undergraduate program, higher education institutions enter the "Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports" of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year in the context of continuous monitoring. YÖKAK shares the "Institutional Feedback Report" prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions issued by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also indicate that the quality assurance of the qualifications of the programs is ensured. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

Placement to our program is made with the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by ÖSYM. Foreign students are accepted by taking Ondokuz Mayıs University International Student Entrance Exam (OMU-YÖS) into consideration.

According to the 2020 Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide, according to the Special Conditions and Explanations of the program;

* A one-year compulsory English Preparatory Program is applied. Preparatory class is not included in the years shown in the education period column. Those who pass the English proficiency exam are directly admitted to the first year. Students are subject to the provisions of the "Regulation on Foreign Language Teaching in Higher Education Institutions and the Principles of Teaching in a Foreign Language" (Article 15)

* Students who enroll in this program and fail to successfully complete the preparatory class within two years despite attending the foreign language preparatory class are dismissed from the program. Students who fail in the preparatory class and are dismissed from the program can enroll in an equivalent program with Turkish as the language of instruction in their own higher education institutions, if any. However, these students, if they request, can be centrally placed by the Presidency of the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center in one of the programs whose medium of instruction is Turkish, provided that the student's YKS score is not lower than the base score required for enrollment in the program to which the student will be placed, as of the year of enrollment, for one time only. (article 17)

* * Candidates with a placement score below the placement score of the candidate whose placement score is below the placement score of the candidate whose placement score is 300 thousandth in the placement score type of the program will not be placed in the teaching programs (The placement score without additional points is taken into account.) Candidates who do not meet this condition will not be able to choose the relevant program. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be included in the placement process even if they have made a preference (including school valedictorian quotas.) (article 24)

* The Ministry of National Education will provide scholarship support to the number of candidates who place this program in their first 5 preferences and who are placed in this program as specified in the "MEB" column (Article 75)

* It is compulsory to take the foreign language exam in English (Article 77)

* Ondokuz Mayıs University, Turkey-wide Y-DIL score type in the top 500, Y-SÖZ score type in the top 1000, Y-EA score type in the top 2000, Y-AY score type in the top 3000 in the relevant score types by entering the departments in the relevant score types and final enrollment in the same program (excluding placements with additional points) students who are placed in the top 5 will be given a scholarship of 400 TL by Ondokuz Mayıs University Foundation for 8 months. (article 754)

1. Those with a bachelor's degree can continue their studies in master's degree programs and, if they meet the relevant requirements, in doctoral and proficiency in art programs accepted with a bachelor's degree.

 2. Undergraduate students have the right to participate in double major programs offered by the higher education institutions where they are studying. Students enrolled in double major programs can take courses from two diploma programs simultaneously and receive two separate undergraduate diplomas if they are successful.

3. They can work outside the field (aviation, criminology, attaché, foreign lecturer, translation and interpreting, acreology, etc.).
