- İngiliz dili, edebiyatı ve kültürü hakkında yeterli bilgiye sahip olmaları İngilizce edebiyatlar (ABD, İrlanda, Kanada, Güney Afrika, Avustralya, vd.) hakkında genel bilgiye sahip olmaları,
- Edebi türler, kavramlar ve terimler ile ilgili yeterli bilgiye sahip olmaları,
- Dilin sistematik yapısı ve işleyişi hakkında kuramsal ve uygulamalı bilgiye sahip olmaları ,
- Eleştirel yaklaşımları metin çözümlemede kullanabilmeleri İngiliz edebiyatı ve kültürüne ilişkin edindikleri bilgileri diğer edebiyat ve kültürleri karşılaştırmalı olarak incelemede kullanabilmeleri ,
- Farklı metin türlerine yönelik etkin çeviri teknikleri ile yetkin çeviriler yapabilmeleri ,
- Bağımsız düşünme sürecinde edindikleri bilgileri eleştirel ve yaratıcı süreçlerde üretkenliklerini arttıracak şekilde değerlendirebilmeleri,
- Edindikleri bilgi birikimi ve eleştirel bakış açısını yaşamın diğer alanlarına (öğretmenlik, rehberlik, çevirmenlik, uluslararası ilişkiler, editörlük, vd.) aktarabilmeleri ,
- Etnik, kültürel ve cinsel kimlikler ve farklılıklar gibi unsurların farkında olmaları ve bu unsurları sorgulayabilmeleri ,
- Öğretmenlik formasyonu alarak İngilizce öğretmenliği yapabilmeleri,
- İngiliz edebiyatının türlerini karakteristik özellikleri ile tanımlamak ve bu türleri temsil eden metinleri, tarihsel, sosyal, kültürel, ekonomik, siyasi ve ekolojik arka planları bağlamında açıklamak ve analiz etmek için gerekli kuramsal ve uygulamalı bilgiye sahiptir.
- Edindikleri bilgi ve birikimi mesleki ve etik sorumluluk çerçevesinde kullanabilmeleri,
- Atatürk İlke ve İnkılâplarına bağlı, demokrasiye inanan, Türk milli, manevi, ahlaki ve kültürel değerlerinin bilincinde olan ve bunlara mesleğinde duyarlılık gösteren bir birey olabilmeli.
- Türkçeyi ve İngilizce’yi kurallarına uygun düzgün ve etkin kullanabilme, fikirlerini açık ve öz bir şekilde sözlü ve yazılı olarak ifade ederek öğrencileri ve meslektaşları ile sağlıklı iletişim kurabilme becerisine sahip olabilmeli.

To have theoretical and practical knowledge on the systematic structure and working of language. To be able to use critical approaches in textual analysis. To be able to use their knowledge on English culture and literature in analyzing other literatures and cultures comparatively. To be able to make proficient translations in different genres by using efficient translation techniques. To be able to evaluate the knowledge they have got during the independent thinking process in a way that will increase their productivity in critical and creative processes. To be able to evaluate their knowledge and critical perspective in other areas (teaching, guiding, translating, international relations, editing, etc.) of life. To be aware of the factors such as ethnic, cultural and sexual identities and differences; and to be able to question these factors. To become English teachers by completing English Teaching Formation Programme To determine the genres of English literature by their characteristic traits and to have theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to explain and analyze the texts symbolizing these texts within the context of their historical, social, cultural, economic, political and ecological backgrounds. To use their knowledge and formation within the framework of professional and ethical responsibility .
