- Alana ait kuramsal ve uygulamaya dönük kapsamlı içerik bilgisine sahiptir. Dinin ne olduğu, insan hayatındaki yeri, dinî metinlerin nasıl anlaşılacağı, nasıl açıklanacağı, nasıl yorumlanacağına dair temel bilgileri öğrenir.
- Kur’ân-ı Kerim’i tecvid kurallarına uygun olarak yüzünden düzgün bir şekilde okuyabilir. Dinî hizmetleri ifa edecek derecede yeterli ezbere sahiptir.
- Başta Kur’ân-ı Kerim ve hadis-i şerifler olmak üzere çoğu Arapça olan İslamî literatürü doğru bir şekilde okuyacak, anlayacak ve sözlü-yazılı olarak aktarabilecek düzeyde yeterli Arapça bilgisine sahip olması gerekir.
- Okuduğu Kur’ân ayetlerinin mânâlarını doğru bir şekilde verebilir, onları tarihî ve lisanî bağlamlarına uygun düşecek şekilde anlayıp, günümüze hitap edecek şekilde yorumlar.
- Hadis ve Sünnetin İslam'ı anlamadaki yerini ve önemini bilir. Hz. Peygamberin söz, fiil ve takrirleri, fiziksel ve ahlâkî özellikleri, hadis ilminin tarihî seyri, usulü, problemleri, yorumlanması, hadis külliyatı ve değerlendirilmesi ile ilgili bilgi sahibi olur.
- Hadis külliyatı ve değerlendirmesi ile ilgili bilgi sahibi olur.
- İslam'da kelam, fıkıh ve tasavvuf ekollerinin şekillenişi ve ana görüşlerini bilir ve günümüzdeki dini oluşumlarla karşılaştırır.
- Kelam, fıkıh ve tasavvufun temel kavramlarını, kaynaklarını ve yorum üretme yöntemlerini bilir.
- İslam dünyasında dini siyasi gayelerle vücut bulmuş klasik ve çağdaş akımlar hakkında temel bilgi sahibidir.
- İslam’ın temel ibadet esaslarını ve bunların uygulama şekillerini Kur’an ve sünnet temelinde bilir. İslam hukukunda yer alan muamelata dair düzenlemeleri, asli kaynaklardaki delilleri ışığında öğrenir. Bunları, günümüz modern hukuk anlayışlarıyla mukayese etmek suretiyle günümüze adapte etme becerisi kazanır.

- İlahiyat alanında edindiği ileri düzeydeki bilgi ve becerileri kullanarak bu alandaki sorunları belirler, araştırır, ulaştığı bulgu ve verileri analiz eder, değerlendirir ve güncel sorunlara yönelik çözüm önerileri geliştirir.
- İslam tarihi, medeniyeti ve bilimi ile ilgili konuları bilir ve değerlendirir. İslam tarihi boyunca farklı coğrafyalar üzerinde ortaya çıkan ve gelişen İslam Medeniyetinin siyasî, edebî, kültürel, bilimsel, sanatsal, estetik…vb. değişik yönlerini keşfeder ve bunların günümüz dünyasına ulaşan yansımalarını tespit etmek suretiyle kalıcılıklarına ve devamlılıklarına katkıda bulunur.
