1. Fulfills the roles and responsibilities of midwifery as a professional who is sensitive to universal, cultural and ethical values ​​in the protection, development, treatment and rehabilitation of individual, family and community health.

2. Provides midwifery care with an evidence-based and holistic approach during pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, birth and postpartum periods, diagnoses risks and complications early and performs necessary interventions with a team approach.

3. Conducts research in the field of midwifery in line with ethical principles and shares its results in national and/or international scientific areas.

4. Continues academic and professional development by constantly renewing itself with the awareness of lifelong learning.

Our department provides education in Turkish. There are computer, technical and simulation laboratories designed to provide students with skills in practical courses in the midwifery program. There are two skill laboratories for students' laboratory practices. In the skill laboratories, there are 2 adult models that allow basic midwifery practices (opening vascular access, making injections, applying catheters and tubes to body cavities, etc.), a cardio-pulmonary resuscitation model that allows heart and respiratory massage, an anatomy model, a skeleton, an episiotomy model, bimanual examination models, newborn care and child CPR and application models, birth models, microscopes, simulation models, blood pressure measuring devices, thermometers, scales, etc. There are computer laboratories, a library, a gym and a cafeteria that provide research and learning opportunities for the students of the Midwifery Department. In addition, the classrooms, laboratories, a conference hall and a meeting hall have the necessary technical equipment (computer, projector, etc.). There is also a computer laboratory and a reading room in the building. There is a wireless internet network in the buildings where classrooms and laboratories are located, which provides internet connection with mobile phones and laptops.

Students can go to universities with agreements for a maximum of two semesters within the framework of Erasmus, Farabi and Mevlana programs.

Students' practices are carried out in Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital and many primary, secondary and tertiary health institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health. These areas are qualified to meet the objectives and outcomes of the midwifery program.

1- She has the knowledge and skills required by the midwifery profession.

2-  She can provide the necessary care and consultancy in the pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period, identify risky situations and make the necessary interventions.

3-  She has normal births on her own responsibility and takes care of the newborn.

4-  She is aware of professional ethical values and responsibilities and she is aware of the social effects and legal consequences of midwifery practices.

5-  Using basic medical sciences and professional knowledge, she provides evidence-based service to women, newborns, families and society with a holistic approach.

6-  She has the ability to communicate effectively in Turkish orally and in writing, she knows at least one foreign language at a level to follow professional knowledge and developments.

7-  While fulfilling their professional responsibilities, she can work effectively individually and as a member of a team.

8-  She plans work on issues specific to her profession, collects data and prepares the results report.

9-  She has the ability to the awareness of lifelong learning, constantly renew herself and think critically.

10- She follows technological developments in her professional practice and research, and uses information and maintenance technologies effectively.

Evaluation criteria for each course is determined by the faculty member who is teaching the course and this evaluation criteria is available on the University Course Information Catalogue. The students are required to take at least one midterm and one final exam in the scope of each enrolled course. In addition to these, quizzes, homeworks, presentations, projects etc. are determined by the faculty member to be involved in the evaluation criteria. At the end of the year, the grades of the students are calculated by the combination of midterm and final exam grades, in-year activities and participation in class. When passing grade is determined, midterm exam is 40% and final exam is 60% effective. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The note that the student gets when calculating the success grade is converted to the letter grade in the relative system. The student must receive at least CC letter grades to be successful in a course. Students with a GANO score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are considered to be successful in grades. Students who do not have a failed course, but whose GANO is below 2.00, must first take the courses (DC) and (DD) to get their GANOs above 2.00 in order to graduate.

Exams consist of midterm exam, final exam, make-up exam, make-up exam, additional exam and additional exam at the end of the maximum period.
Exams can be written, oral, both written and oral or practical.
At least one midterm exam is held for each course. Midterm exam dates are determined and announced by the relevant board of directors within the first month of each semester. Apart from midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities deemed appropriate by the instructor can be done. The number of these activities and their contribution to the success grade are specified by the instructor in the lesson plan. The contribution of final or make-up exams to the success grade is determined to be at least 40% and at most 60%. In distance education programmes, the contribution of the final or make-up exam to the success grade is determined as maximum 80%.

AA, BA, BB, CB, CC, G and M are successful letter grades.
DC and DD are conditionally successful letter grades. Students with a GPA of at least 2.00 are also considered successful in the courses in which they receive DC and DD grades. Students who have no failed courses, but whose GPA is below 2.00, must first retake their DC and DD courses and raise their GPA above 2.00 in order to graduate.
FD, FF, DZ and K are unsuccessful letter grades.
I grade is not included in the grade point average calculation.

For ensuring the quality of higher education programs, YÖK is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and supervising the education, training, and other activities carried out in higher education institutions. Within the framework of criteria determined by YÖK, “University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports” related to higher education institutions are published annually. Based on these reports, YÖK shares quantitative and qualitative evaluation reports on higher education institutions with the public. Additionally, YÖK publishes the “Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report” every year, which includes academic, administrative, and financial data of foundation higher education institutions. These reports, containing quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are also shared with the public by YÖK. 

The quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is ensured in accordance with the “Procedures and Principles for Ensuring the Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs”: 

1. Development and Approval of Academic Programs:

   1.1. YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the establishment of undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions. 

   1.2. The curriculum of undergraduate programs and the learning outcomes each program aims to provide to students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the fundamental principles set by YÖK. 

   1.3. The curriculum of National Core Education Programs is implemented by higher education institutions after being approved by YÖK, following acceptance by the relevant Deans’ Council. 

2. Assessment and Evaluation:

The methods for assessing and evaluating the learning outcomes of each undergraduate program are conducted according to the education, training, and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions in line with the fundamental principles set by YÖK. 

3. Certification:

Students enrolled in undergraduate programs receive a bachelor's degree diploma upon successfully completing the course credits and other requirements set by higher education institutions. 

4. Self-Assessment and External Evaluation: 

Higher education institutions, as part of continuous monitoring, enter the “Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports” for the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK publicly shares the “Institutional Feedback Report” prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions. Additionally, accreditation decisions issued by accreditation organizations authorized or recognized by YÖKAK demonstrate that programs meet the required quality assurance standards. YÖKAK regularly conducts review activities regarding the specified qualifications in accordance with its regulations.

Candidates must obtain a score from the relevant field (MF-3) from the Undergraduate Placement Examination (LYS) conducted by The Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), indicating that their exam result has been placed. It is also essential that the student is not enrolled in another higher education institution other than the open faculty. According to the results of a central examination called Foreign Student Examination (YÖS), foreign students from a certain quota framework are accepted too.

The working field of our graduates includes birth, child and family planning units of the institutions affiliated to Ministery of Health and the private health facilities. The graduates who want to study academically can be employed as instructor at universities and they can carry on their postgraduate studies.
