- Öğrenci Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi (ÖSYM) tarafından yapılan ÖSYS sınavından başarılı olmak.
- Yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin kabul koşulları her akademik yılın başlangıcında Gümüşhane üniversitenin web sayfasında ilan edilmektedir.
- Coğrafya Bölümü’nü başarı ile tamamlayanlar, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti devlet okullarında ve özel okullarda pedagoji derslerini almaları halinde coğrafya öğretmenliği yapabilme imkânına sahiptirler. Mezunlarımız Maden Tetkik Arama Enstitüsü, Devlet Su İşleri, Köy Hizmetleri, Orman Genel Müdürlüğü, Karayolları, Meteoroloji İşleri Genel Müdürlüğü, Devlet İstatistik Enstitüsü, Devlet Planlama Teşkilatı vb. gibi resmi kuruluşlar ile Turizm Bakanlığı, Çevre Bakanlığı gibi bakanlıklarda çalışabilmektedir.
- Mezunlarımız, bölge planlama çalışmalarında ve belediyelerin planlama faaliyetlerinde görev yapabilmektedirler. Pedagojik Formasyon derslerini aldıktan sonra, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı bünyesinde öğretmen olabilmektedirler. Ayrıca, Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemi (CBS), arazi kullanımı ve planlaması, haritalama, çevre analizi değerlendirilmesi, çevresel yönetim, şehir ve bölge planlaması gibi özel alanlarda da çalışma imkânı bulabilirler.
