Antrenörlük Eğitimi Lisans Diploması

The programme aims to train coaches who are specialised in their field, adhere to ethical principles, follow scientific and technological developments, are creative and productive, can plan and implement exercise and training programmes for individuals of different ages and groups, are open to interdisciplinary cooperation, and are sensitive to universal values such as sustainability and human rights.

Education and training is carried out as formal education. Theoretical courses are carried out in the classroom environment and practical courses are carried out in laboratories, sports halls, swimming pools and outdoor sports fields. In addition, applied vocational training internship training is carried out in public and private institutions.

1: Students gain sufficient knowledge in subjects specific to the Faculty of Sports Sciences or the College of Physical Education and Sports, such as sports, management, recreation, training and disability, and acquire the ability to apply their theoretical and practical knowledge in their respective fields.

2: Students gain the ability to identify, define, interpret, formulate and solve problems in their field; for this purpose, they gain the ability to select and apply appropriate analysis and intervention approaches. 

3: Students gain the ability to understand and interpret a process, event, case, equipment or product, and to solve related problems with a holistic perspective and contemporary methods.

4: Students gain the ability to develop, select and use current and functional tools required for field applications as well as the ability to use information technologies effectively.

5: Students gain the ability to design, implement, collect data, analyse and interpret results for the investigation of SPBF or BESYO problems or discipline-specific research topics.

6: Students gain the ability to work effectively in disciplinary and multidisciplinary teams and also gains the ability to work individually.

7: Students gain the ability to communicate effectively in Turkish, both orally and in writing, and knowledge of at least one foreign language; gains the ability to write effective reports and understand written reports, to make effective presentations, to give and receive clear and understandable instructions.

8: Students take at least two out-of-field courses in their curriculum.

9: Students gain an awareness of the necessity of lifelong learning, along with the ability to access information, follow developments in science and technology, and continuously improve oneself.

10: Students act in accordance with ethical principles and develops a sense of professional and ethical responsibility. Gains awareness of the universal and societal impacts and legal consequences of practices of sports sciences faculties or schools of physical education and sports.

11: Students gain knowledge about business applications such as project management, risk management and change management; gain awareness about entrepreneurship and innovation.

-In measuring success in a course, the success achieved in mid-term/end-of-year exams and mid-term/end-of-year coursework is taken into account.

-Exams are conducted theoretically and practically according to the nature of the course. All courses may be subject to open-ended, multiple-choice, and other written exams, as well as oral exams, assignments, and other assessments.

-The exam schedule is prepared by our department's ‘Course and Exam Schedule Preparation Committee’ in coordination with other departments of the faculty. It is based on the dates announced in Academic Calendar of the University, and submitted to the dean's office. The schedule is announced at least two weeks in advance by the dean's office.

-The contribution of the midterm exam to the course grade is 40%, while the final or resit exam contributes 60%. (Resit exams are considered equivalent to the final exam.)

-To be eligible to take the final exam, students must attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of practical courses. Students who fail to meet the attendance requirement are graded as “FD” and must retake the course and fulfill the attendance requirement. 

-The achievement grade refers to the equivalent on the 4.0 grading scale of the raw score calculated by taking into account the student's semester/year-long coursework and the final exam, based on predetermined weightings. In our department, the relative grading system (curve system) is used for nearly all courses when calculating the achievement grade. For courses such as Research Project I and II, and in courses where class size is not suitable for relative grading, the absolute grading system is applied. The absolute grading system is also used for graduation make-up exams and exemption exams, where a score of 50 or above out of 100 is considered a passing grade.

      I. A student is considered to have passed a course if they receive one of the following letter grades: AA, BA, BB, CB, or CC.
      II. A student is considered to have conditionally passed a course if they receive a DC or DD grade. For conditionally passed courses to be counted as successful for graduation, the student's cumulative GPA must be at least 2.00.
      III. A student who receives an FF grade is considered to have failed the course.
      IV. A student who receives an FD grade is considered to have failed due to non-attendance.

• Students whose cumulative GPA (CGPA) remains below 1.80 for two consecutive semesters are considered unsuccessful. Such students are not allowed to take new compulsory courses, but may enroll in elective courses from upper semesters. (According to Article 23/2 of the Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations)

Graduation Requirements:

1. Participation in at least one compulsory summer or winter training camp during any semester of the program,

2. A minimum graduation CGPA of 2.00 at the end of the 8th semester,

3. Completion of a minimum of 240 ECTS credits as required by the program.

In order to ensure the quality of higher education programs, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and supervising educational activities and other operations in higher education institutions in Türkiye.

Each year, YÖK prepares and shares with the public the "University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports", which include both quantitative and qualitative assessments of the academic, administrative, and financial performance of higher education institutions.

Quality assurance in undergraduate programs is carried out in accordance with the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring the Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs."

1. Curriculum Development and Approval:

The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) determines the minimum standards required for the establishment of undergraduate departments and programs.
Curricula and learning outcomes are developed by university senates in line with the core principles set by YÖK.
If available, National Core Education Programs are implemented upon approval by YÖK following their adoption by the relevant Council of Deans.

2. Assessment and Evaluation:

The knowledge, skills, and competencies expected of students are assessed and evaluated in accordance with the university’s education and examination regulations.

3. Certification:

Students who successfully complete the program and fulfill all required course credits and obligations are entitled to receive a bachelor’s degree diploma.

4. Self-Assessment and External Evaluation:

Higher education institutions upload their Institutional Self-Evaluation Reports from the previous year to the Information System of the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each calendar year.

The Institutional Feedback Reports, prepared as a result of external evaluation processes conducted by YÖKAK, are shared with the public.

YÖKAK also carries out periodic reviews of qualifications to ensure the sustainability of quality assurance.

At our university, the Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Quality Coordination Office is responsible for the effective operation of the quality assurance system. In this context:

• In line with the university’s strategic plan, all academic units engage in goal-setting processes, ensuring alignment with the quality assurance system.

• The Quality Coordination Office requests semester and annual reports from faculties and departments and monitors their activities within the internal quality assurance framework.

• Reports collected from departments are integrated into the university-wide strategy and performance monitoring processes.

• Information meetings, quality training sessions, and guidance activities are held regularly for academic and administrative units to promote a culture of quality.

• The university’s internal quality assurance system, based on the principle of continuous improvement, supports data-driven decision-making and is strengthened by feedback mechanisms that promote institutional development.

Applicants must succeed in the Central Special Talent Exam (ÖZYES) administered by the Center for Assesment, Selection and Placement (ÖSYM).

Foreign nationals are required to obtain the necessary score in the Foreign Student Examination (YÖS) or its equivalent for the relevant academic year and must document their athletic background with an official athlete license. The application process is carried out in accordance with the “Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Directive on the Admission of International Students to Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs.”

For transfer admission, the student must have obtained a score equal to or higher than the lowest ÖZYES score of those admitted to our faculty in the year of the student’s initial university enrollment, and must have a minimum GPA of 2.00. The transfer procedures are carried out in accordance with the “Directive on Internal and External Transfers Between Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa.”

Graduates are entitled to receive a Level 3 coaching certificate in one sport branch and Level 1 coaching certificates in two different sport branches. A minimum of a Level 1 coaching certificate is required to practice the coaching profession. The highest coaching level is Level 5. Advancing beyond the level granted upon graduation or maintaining that level may vary depending on the regulations of the respective sports federations. Promotion and demotion processes are carried out by the sports federations.
