The teaching objectives of the Department of History of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Afyon Kocatepe University are determined in accordance with the professional goals that students are expected to achieve in the future. In this context, programme teaching objectives are;

• To equip students with a sufficient level of historical knowledge to enable them to make objective assessments. Furthermore, they are open to and able to analyze solutions from different disciplines within their field and produce reliable reports.
• To equip them with the skills to read documents used in historical research, understand and interpret artifacts, thereby contributing to the development of scientific knowledge and the academic culture of the country.
• To teach at least one foreign language to follow international studies and develop a comparative approach and analysis of both Turkish and world history.
• To equip them with the skills to effectively use information technologies to access information.
• To cultivate historians who, with these skills, internalize ethical values, can understand current issues in Turkey and the world, interpret events and facts from a historical perspective, and enlighten their communities.

There are 46 classrooms in total within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, including 34 classrooms, 3 seminar halls, and 8 laboratories. Four of these classrooms and one seminar room are allocated to the History Department. In addition to practical areas, 60 computers with internet access and a computer lab are available for use by students in the department for relevant courses.

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences is located on the Ahmet Necdet Sezer Main Campus, the central campus of Afyon Kocatepe University. This provides students with the opportunity to participate in social, cultural, and sporting events organized on campus and to utilize the cafeteria and dining hall facilities. Seminars, symposiums, conferences, panels, and talks on various topics are held throughout the academic year. Furthermore, there are student clubs on the university campus that provide opportunities for students to continuously improve their skills, and students in the department can participate in these activities. The History Club, which continues its activities actively in this context, organizes events, trips, workshops, seminars, and conferences. In addition to the History Club, there are also clubs within the University such as the technology club, traveler's club, folklore club, photography club, literature club, book club, aviation club, young entrepreneurs club, bicycle club and scouting club, and it is possible for the students of the department to take part in/participate in these activities.

• They acquire the ability to read historical texts or original documents in their own language, summarize or transcribe, and catalog information appropriately.

• They acquire knowledge of world history from a comparative perspective.
• They acquire the ability to identify and utilize information sources appropriately (such as bibliography, documents, oral testimonies).
• They identify and analyze the causes and consequences of historical events.
• They acquire the ability to interpret, annotate, or organize texts and documents accurately and in accordance with disciplinary criteria.
• They understand the necessity of lifelong learning and utilize methods to keep their knowledge current.
• Uses the methods and tools necessary for historical research.

Although the measurement and evaluation method applied for each course is defined in detail in the "Course Teaching Plan", exams, measurement and evaluation and graduation conditions are basically organised / conducted according to the procedures and principles specified in Afyon Kocatepe University Education and Examination Regulations. In this direction, the exams that the students of the programme will / are likely to participate are; midterm exam, semester / final exam, end of internship exam, make-up exam and single course exam.

The grade scale is applied as specified in the University's Education and Examination Regulations. The student must have passed all the courses in the programme and must not have FF (failed), DZ (failed of nonattendance) or YZ (failed) grades. In this programme, the student is required to provide a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and to have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

To monitor the quality of higher education programmes;

 • The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is responsible for the planning, organisation, management and supervision of education and training and other activities in higher education institutions.

• "University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" of higher education institutions prepared within the framework of the criteria determined by YÖK are published every year.

• The "Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report", which includes academic, administrative and financial data of foundation higher education institutions, is published annually by YÖK. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations, are shared with the public. Quality assurance of undergraduate programmes in higher education is ensured according to the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Programmes":

1. Creation and Approval of Curricula: YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of undergraduate departments and programmes in higher education institutions.

1.1. The curriculum of undergraduate programmes in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes in each programme are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK.

1.2. The curricula of the National Core Programmes are adopted by the relevant Council of Deans and implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of the Council of Higher Education.

2. Assessment and Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes of each undergraduate programme is carried out according to the teaching and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK.

3. Documentation: Students enrolled in undergraduate programmes receive a bachelor's degree if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions.

4. Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: In the context of continuous monitoring, higher education institutions enter their "Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports" for the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the "Institutional Feedback Report" prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions given by accreditation institutions authorised or recognised by YÖKAK also indicate that the quality assurance of the qualifications of the programmes is ensured. YÖKAK carries out regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

5. The requirements established by the Evaluation and Accreditation Agency for Faculties of Science, Literature, Science and Literature, Language, History and Geography (FEDEK), which aims to contribute to improving the quality of education in higher education tourism programs, ensure the quality and quality of education.

General admission requirements for Turkish and foreign students are valid for starting the programme.

Admission and registration to the faculty is regulated within the framework of the Higher Education Law and rules.

Students are admitted to the faculty according to the results of the Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS) and Undergraduate Placement Examination (LYS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM).

In the admission of foreign students to the department, the conditions determined by the university for foreign students are valid.

Graduates of the Department of History;

They are employed as teachers in the Ministry of National Education by taking formal training courses.

They can become surveyors in various fields by taking the KPSS exam.

Those who continue their postgraduate studies can become academics.

With the opportunities afforded by their bachelor's degree, they can work as civil servants in the public sector and as university graduates in the private sector.
